Bilateral Upper Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Correction)

During the procedure, the surgeon makes a small incision in the natural fold of the eyelid. Excess tissue is then removed, and the incision is carefully closed, often with a fine suture that is barely visible after healing. The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, meaning the patient remains awake but feels no pain.

Blood-thinning medication should be stopped 10 days before the procedure.

This should always be done in consultation with your general practitioner.

Blood thinners can be resumed three days after the procedure.

After the surgery, patients may experience swelling and bruising, but these usually disappear within a few weeks.

The result is a fresher, more youthful appearance with a more open look.

If you follow the aftercare instructions properly, you will usually see the final result of the procedure after about six weeks.

Bilateral upper blepharoplasty is a popular choice for people who want to rejuvenate their overall facial expression or solve functional issues caused by excess skin on the eyelids. Since there is no "lifting" or "pulling," your facial expression does not change.

On the day of the surgery, if you experience pain, you may take a regular painkiller, such as Dafalgan.

The use of aspirin or other blood-thinning medications is discouraged, as they can promote bleeding and slow down wound healing.

Use Hylo-Night eye ointment for 10 days in both eyes.

Optionally, apply Kamillosan compresses twice a day.

Avoid makeup and swimming for a period of one month.

It is advisable to wait for about two months before using a solarium or sunbathing without eye protection to avoid pigmentation of the scar.

The stitches are removed during the consultation, 7 to 10 days after the procedure.

If the procedure is purely aesthetic, the cost is 1250 EUR for both eyes.

If the procedure is recognized as functional by the mutual insurance, a reimbursement of over 300 EUR from these 1250 EUR is possible.
