Fluorescein angiography

What is fluorescein angiography?

Fluorescein agiography is an examination that is done at the Eye Clinic in Winksele. This is a long-standing examination in which fluorescent dye (fluoresceine) is injected into a vein in the arm in order to allow the blood vessels to be photographed. The fluorescent dye lights up whenever a photo is taken with light of a specific wavelength. This allows the blood vessels in the retina and any abnormalities to be seen better.

For this examination the pupil is dilated with eye drops.
